Grounding is The Best Discourse

For my essay of the Spirit Quest course, I am going to touch on the discourse that affected me the most. Through the long 30 week course, I have read on many topics ranging form Karma and Chakras to Telepathy and Reincarnation.

While many topics covered in the course seem very “1960’s psycho-babble” or a mixed bag of religious beliefs, the one topic that did greatly benefit me is also one of the earliest lessons. Discourse number three, “Grounding and Centering your Head” has proven to be a valuable tool.  My “real job” is that of a Network Administrator and Resource (Money) Advisor for my Squadron. As you might imagine, both jobs have a tendency to be extremely stressful, due to dealing we personnel unskilled in computers, as well as trying to maintain a multi-million dollar budget, while still staying within the spending limits set by the congress. I have always had a big problem dealing with people who have no clue what they are talking about. This coupled with some anger management issues has often landed me in positions that, if I were not 100% correct, I would have been stripped of my rank on several occasions.

Grounding has actually greatly helped me deal with people and control my anger by allowing me to channel that energy out back to the earth much as a ground wire of an electrical circuit. Without getting in to the discourse details grounding allows me to be a better professional by granting me the ability to get rid of the negative portions and only present the more positive to my customers. While it is true the do need me and I do not need them, I still like to provide superior service be it fixing their computer or adjusting their account balance.

While the rest of the course does not really appeal to me, this one discourse was tell worth the time invested in the either course since several of the immediately following discourses build upon the “Grounding” technique. If for just this discourse, alone I would highly recommend this course to anyone that has an interest in learning.

Dear Amy,

Thank you for all the Spirit quest program. I wanted to focus my 300 word final on Discourse #29 MONEY!!! I guess that gives it away. The exclamation point that is. I consider myself a spiritual being living and adapting to a overly materialistic world. In a way materialism is part of our being. We possess our body and organs so life as we know it is biased towards materialism. What I appreciated about this session is that you where not resisting money and you where reflecting that like everything else its what you do with it. I think I have gotten to a point that I believe you either have it or don’t and live a wondering monk’s life. That is not a choice since I chose to be a proactive part of this world and am married with two wonderful children (9mos and 5yrs old). So I am committed. So how can I make friends with money since I actually would like to have a lot of it and I want all the luxury and freedom that comes with it?

First focusing on the idea that money is good but my impression of people that have it is not very good. I have not met many people that accumulated wealth that I truly respect. The people that are making a lot of money today in especially in sales and money mgt world are mostly fake and are just gaining peoples trust to get their way. So I need to earn my keep by doing what I believe and am good at in the most sincere matter and not getting disappointed when people don’t believe me. I need to use the rejection as a learning experience and not try to save or savor it. I need to move on with that learning experience to the next relationship and sharing of my story and why I am doing what I do.

Another great point was about doing what you love. I love helping people and helping them overcomes their obstacles. I should have become a psychologist but I didn’t because I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I have all these ideas and things in my head that I need to bring to life but get stuck after the creation part. After it is created then the only motivation is money and I don’t follow through. I love working with people so I need to stick it out and reach out despite the rejection. I need to put my self in their position and as I get more confident and can prove my sincerity I will gain the like minded people that can see through me and can place their trust in me.

So I will stop procrastinating and don’t try to make money evil so I don’t have to earn it.

Spirit Quest

Although my Reiki training gave me much insight to my inner self, I had many more questions. Your lessons have taken me further than I could have ever imagined.

Some of your lessons such as creating and destroying roses proved to be a lot of fun and got me through some stressful situations, for this I will be eternally thankful.

One of my biggest problems was the loss of energy. Several of your lessons such as the protection rose, bringing in the golden sun, especially in returning my energies from all places I had been each day, the grounding cord, and of course amusement have proven to me to be in my best interest. I walk now and see so much more beauty in all things which give me energy and keeps a smile on my face and in my heart. The other evening I saw an owl dip down in my yard to investigate a meal.

What beauty I saw. Why did I see this? Because I am much more alert of my surroundings. I do have much work to do in speaking in the positive. Although I think I am and have many positive thoughts, Things just didn't come out in the positive. Your Discourse # 16 finally explained to me why. My belief system. My parents were always wanting me to fit in with the statement, "What will the neighbors think?" or " We are the parents, we know best." I have come a long ways but I am not there yet. I seem to be caught between a present and a future state so there is work to be done here.

I have always been quick to help others, which seemed to be what made me feel good, but then I felt very let down. I couldn't figure out why. I now know why. I forgot to do things for my self.

It really is simple, love yourself and then love others, Heal yourself and then heal others. And above all else, Be Yourself
